In collaboration with Gaggenau, we explored opportunities to expand their product portfolio and engage new target groups. The project resulted in DG-001, a steam cooker designed for young, ambitious professionals who value efficiency, quality, and elegance in their everyday lives.
Expand the process.

Identifying a new Target Group
Interviews with sales representatives reveal that Gaggenau’s target audience generally begins at age 30+, reflecting the premium pricing and high quality of its appliances.
However, this overlooks younger professionals aged 20 to 30 who are ambitious, goal-driven, and value a refined cooking experience, revealing an opportunity for Gaggenau to attract the next generation of premium appliance buyers.

Needs and Expectations
Using surveys and interviews helped understand the new target group’s circumstances, needs, challenges, goals, and expectations regarding cooking. Based on these insights, a value proposition canvas was created and aided the development and decision-making throughout the entire design process.
Development
The goal was to develop a steam cooker that is both functional and an honest representation of Gaggenau’s brand identity and legacy. Through highly collaborative brainstorming, sketching, prototyping, and user testing, the final concept was developed and selected.

Prototyping
To showcase the design at Milan Design Week, a full-scale prototype was created by using techniques such as laser cutting, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, and spray painting.

Close the process.
